The First Battle of the Day

Some days start out better than others. The devil is cruel like that, trying to creep in there and ruin the day before it even gets started. If there is one thing that I have learned in life, it is to not give the devil a chance.

Scripture:
“Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts. And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.” – Colossians 3:15-17

Observation/Application:
First thing in the morning, run to the Word of God. Don’t let anything get in the way – not that special project that you are working on, not a conversation with your spouse, your co-worker, the news, or that facebook, twitter, or other social media feed. First and foremost turn to the Word. Let your first conversation be with God our Father and our Lord Jesus Christ!

If you want to have a good day, don’t let the world get to you before the Word does!

Make it a great day! I call you blessed!

Prayer:
Dear heavenly Father, thank you for your Word today. Fill us with your goodness, and empty us of all of our pride, our sinfulness, and all of our faults. Wash us clean from the inside out. Refresh us, and make us new. Let your light shine so bright in us today Lord. Guide our every action, our every thought, our every word. We seek you first Lord each and every day. Help us to have a great day, for your glory, in Jesus mighty name. Amen.
