There Is No Better Way To Start Off The Day

Are you wondering how to handle a certain situation with your boss, with your employees, with your spouse, with your children, with other family members, with your in-laws, with your money, with your health, with your time? Having clarity on what to do, and how to handle things is a critical piece to us having having peace and joy in our lives. If you knew of a way to get answers to every question, every problem, every situation that you faced, knowing that you could get peace and clarity on every single decision, would you be interested in knowing how to do that? I think most of us would say that we are interested, but are we really open to the fact that something like this exists?

Scripture: “Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you. Show me the way I should go, for to you I entrust my life.” – Psalm 143:8

Observation/Application:
I love a good breakfast to get my day started. If I had it my way, I would have eggs, pancakes, sausage, French toast, orange juice, and a cup of coffee every morning, And I would probably weigh 250 pounds from eating so much. Anyone who knows me knows that (1) I love eating, and (2) I love a good breakfast. But there is one thing that I love more each morning than food that enters my mouth, and it is soul food that enters my mind by reading the Word of God. It nourishes more than my body. It nourishes my soul. It gives me strength when my body fails. When energy from my last meal has all been used up, and there is nothing left, the Word of the Lord sustains me.

What can we expect from reading the Word of the Lord every morning? First we will be filled with His unfailing and unending love. There is nothing that compares to a love like that. It is a love that is available for us, no matter what happens to us in life, no matter what we do, no matter how much we screw up. It’s the most wonderful thing a person can come to know in this lifetime.

This verse tells us that the second thing we gain from this time in morning reading of the Word is increased faith. We learn to put our trust in the Lord, “for to you I entrust my life.” When we know God and his unfailing love, and unlimited strength and power of the Lord Almighty maker of heaven and earth, all things seen and unseen, we learn that we can trust him. He has already defeated sin and death and has promised us the same power that rose Jesus from the grave. This is a love that we can trust.

Third, we can expect clarity. We can expect help in every decision that we have to make. When we open ourselves to the Word of God and letting it guide us, we open ourselves to the power of God instead of the our own personal power. I love Tony Robins “Personal Power” teachings and have learned a lot from self-improvement books such as these. But where many of these books fail is that they limit the power to our own personal power and don’t help us to understand that God is truly the source of all of our personal power and all of the power that we will ever need. When we read the Word of God, we can expect more clarity than we will ever get from any other source. That has been my personal experience since I have turned my source of power to the Word of the Lord. The answer to every question, the solution to every problem that I am facing at work, at home, or in general God reveals to me each morning.

There is ultimate peace in knowing who we are, whose we are, and where we are going. And we can get this every morning by spending time with the Lord each and every morning in His Word and in prayer. There is no better way to start off the day. It’s the best nourishment a body and soul can get. We can expect that the Lord will show us the way, through His power and might, through the Word and prayer as a result of our time each morning with Him. When we spend time in God’s Word, and in prayer, we can have faith knowing that God will answer us. God tells us in Jeremiah 33:3, “Call to Me, and I will answer you, and I will tell you great and mighty things, which you do not know.”

May your mornings be filled with God’s unfailing love, faith, and clarity for each and every decision, each and every day. God gave us another day on this earth, to live, and breath, to love, and to enjoy our days here, for the glory of his holy name. For this is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it!!

Prayer:
Dear heavenly Father, thank you for your incredible Word this morning. Let your Word fill our minds, fill our bodies, and fill our souls with all that we need today. Give us clarity on every decision that we have to make. Answer every question that we might be presented with. Let your Holy Spirit guide our every Word, our every thought, our every action. Shield us from the enemy, and let your power and might defeat their every attack. This is how we fight our battles, by putting our trust in you. We give you all the honor and glory today, and always, in Jesus mighty name. Amen.
