God Comes First

I love this verse, because it gives us the great perspective on our lives here on earth. God comes first, and everything else comes second. You shall have no other God’s before me. It’s a pretty simple concept really, God comes first and everything else comes second. When we put God first, we make good choices. And when we surround ourselves with others who put God first, that’s when we start to see amazing things happen!

Scripture:
“Whoever does God’s will is my brother and sister and mother.” – Mark 3:35

Observation/Application:
In this scripture Jesus reinforces the fact that we are to put God first. When his earthly family comes to see him, Jesus tells them that those who does God’s will if his brother and sister. That means that we can be a relative of Jesus the Son of God. All we have to do is accept Jesus into our hearts, ask for forgiveness of our past, and seek Him first. And then we are actually adopted into God’s family through the blood covenant of Jesus Christ.

Jesus is not dishonoring his earthly family. Nor are we to dishonor our earthly families. One of the commandments is to honor our mothers and fathers. But let us not lose sight of the fact that like us, our mothers and fathers are also children of the most High God. And we all have the amazing gift of choice. And when we align our actions to God’s Word we make good choices and have a good life. And the hard truth is that sometimes our earthly families are not so good for us and encourage us to make choices outside of God’s Word. The reality might be that your friends are poison in your lives and influencing you against the Word of God.

If we continue to surround ourselves with those people and their will instead of God’s Will, then our days of blessing will be numbered. But if we align our lives with God’s Word, then we will be blessed according to his riches and glory.
