Sometimes You Have To Move On
Paul was chosen by Jesus Christ himself to share the gospel. If there were ever a person clear of their purpose, it was Paul. And during his time and ministry, he was able to bring many people to know the Lord. But there were some people who just refused to be open to his teachings.
Scripture:
“But some of them became obstinate; they refused to believe and publicly maligned the Way. So Paul left them. He took the disciples with him and had discussions daily in the lecture hall of Tyrannus.” – Acts 19:9
Observation/Application:
Not everything in life goes the way that we hope for, and the way that we plan. It’s how we respond during these times that is very important. When we know what we are called to do, and someone or something is getting in our way, or blocking us from doing it effectively, it could be a sign from God that we are to move on.

Time is precious. God only gives us so much time on this earth. Why would we waste it on someone or something that is fighting against us. If we know God’s purpose in our lives, why would we let anyone get in our way and in God’s way? Why would we waste another minute, waste another word, or waste another breath on anything that is coming against our God?
It comes down to discernment. I’m not saying that when the going gets tough that we jump ship. On the contrary, it is during these difficult times when the heat is on us and the pressure is on us that diamonds are made. But what I am saying is that it is important during these times to make sure that we spend more time than ever with God, in the Word, in prayer, and in His holy Presence so that we can be open to what God is trying to do in our lives.
The desires of our flesh are strong. And it can be easy to convince ourselves that what we want in the flesh is what God wants. We can say, “God wants me to have that really big house, or that really cool car, or that prestigious job. But is that what God really wants for us? Or is that what we want? Sometimes we are called to stay, to complete the task at hand. But sometimes we have to “gotta go”. Sometimes the right answer is to move on. And the best way for us to know what to do, is to be clear on what God wants us to do.
When we know our Lord Jesus Christ, and fully trust him, we can surrender to His Will. We can trust God knowing that what He wants for us, and what He is going to do, is going to be far greater than we could ever hope for or imagine. Let us seek and love the Lord with all our heart and all our mind and all our soul and all our strength. (Mark 12:30, Luke 10:27, Deuteronomy 6:5, Deuteronomy 4:29) “Now set your mind and heart to seek the Lord your God.” (1 Chronicles 22:19). And when we draw near to him, let us be confident knowing without question that He will reward those who seek Him! (Hebrews 11:6)
Prayer:
Dear heavenly Father, thank you for your Word today. Thank you for always giving us exactly what we need, when we need it. Help us to seek you first every morning, before the noise of the day creeps in. We cherish our precious time with you Lord. Speak to us Lord, and let us be silent so that we can hear you. Guide our every step, or every thought, our every Word. Give us peace Lord. Let us be in your holy Presence Lord and know your power and strength, so that we cannot be shaken Lord. Let the trials and troubles of this life bounce off us like a Nerf ball. Help us to stay in your Presence Lord knowing that nothing can hurt us, and no weapon formed against shall prosper Lord. Let your Holy Spirit overflow in us Lord. Help us to stay in your Presence, and close to you all the day through, in Jesus mighty name. Amen.
