Answering The Really Tough Questions

At some point in everyone’s life, I expect that we all face the question of the significance of our lives and existence in this world. For some it is a search for their purpose, others wrestle with death and mortality, some the creation of the world, while others struggle with feeling like pawns in the battle of good versus evil. These are the things that try our souls. But what do these things all have in common? They are unseen.

Scripture:
“So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.” – 2 Corinthians 4:18

Observation/Application:
When we don’t have answers to questions, when things are grey, when they are uncertain, we often are uncomfortable. We like to know things. And when we face these really tough questions, when we really deal with them, and the world cannot give us answers, that can leave us feeling insignificant. There are billions of people in this world. How do we stand out in the crowd? How do we live a life of significance and make a difference?

All of these questions are answered in the Word of God. The Word of God reveals to us all that is seen and unseen. It will lift us up when life is beating us down, and it will take us to new heights when we advance in our faith. Got questions? God has answers. And when we have answers, when we know all of these things, we can stand out from the crowd. We can separate ourselves from the billions of people in this world and receive the greater blessing that God has prepared for those who love and follow Him. “Therefore, ‘Come out from them and be separate, says the Lord. Touch no unclean thing and I will receive you’.” – 2 Corinthians 6:17.

We stand out from the crowd by fixing our eyes on what is unseen. That is the what makes the difference. It is not by our wisdom and strength but by His. We fix our eyes on Jesus. He is the difference maker.

Prayer:
Dear heavenly Father, thank you for your Word today. Help us to fix our eyes on what is unseen Lord, and on what is eternal. We know that all good things come from You God, so we fix our eyes on Jesus. Reveal to us that which You have for us. Guide our steps, our thoughts, and our words. Let Your Word and Your Spirit live in us and overflow in us. Help us to separate ourselves from the world is doing Lord and live according to Your Will. Strengthen us and encourage us. Help us to stand up for what is right and good, against the forces of evil. Protect us Lord. Help us to trust in You, and to surrender to You. Draw us close to You, that we walk in Your Presence, in your boldness, in Your love, and in your grace. We seek you first, and live for You Father God. And we give you all the honor and glory and praise, in Jesus mighty name. Amen.
