What Is The Key To Unlocking Our Potential?

We are all so busy. There is so much to do. We have so many responsibilities. It is easy to get overwhelmed and to limit ourselves by limiting God. Let me say that again… It is easy to get overwhelmed and to limit ourselves when we limit God. So how do we unlock that potential?

Scripture:
“We do not want you to become lazy, but to imitate those who through faith and patience inherit what has been promised.” – Hebrews 6:12

Observation/Application:
When we are clear on God’s calling in our life, we are to be obedient to the call and to pursue it vigorously. Just because it has been revealed to us doesn’t mean that it is not going to take some effort on our end. We can’t be lazy and think that what God has revealed to us is just going to fall into our laps.

A lot of these overnight success stories really didn’t happen overnight at all. Most of these people paid their dues and then one day finally got their break. It’s the rule of 10,000 hours. After 10,00 hours of consistently doing something, you build up the knowledge and skill to be considered by others as an “expert” at it.

The Lord honors those who commit their works to Him and who strive for excellence in everything they do. Paul also gives us a blueprint of how to do it. He says that we are to “imitate those who through faith and patience inherit what has been promised.”

We are not to imitate those who say they know how to do it but have not done it. We are not to imitate our friends or relatives who know nothing about it. We are not to imitate those who have achieved success in a malicious way. Rather we are to imitate those who through “faith and patience” have succeeded. Choosing our mentors is a very important decision.

But above all, let us trust in God and not mere mortals. Let us not limit ourselves by limiting God in our lives. Our relationship with God is our most important relationship that we have. He is our power. He is our strength. He is our peace. God is our key to everything.

#Potential-Unlocked

Prayer:
Dear heavenly Father, thank you for your great Word today. Let your Word enter our hearts and minds and begin good works in us. Help us to walk through today in peace and love, wisdom and understanding, joy and compassion. Give us strength this evening as we mourn the loss of our brother in Christ. You know our hearts Lord. Help us in all of our needs, both hidden and revealed. Help us to hear your call and be obedient to your Will. Guide our every step today. Help us to stay close to you. We ask for this, and receive it right now, in Jesus mighty name. Amen.
