Being Diligent in Our Walk With Christ
Scripture: “So if anyone purifies himself from anything dishonorable, he will be a special instrument, set apart, useful to the Master, prepared for every good work. Flee from youthful passions, and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, along with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart. But reject foolish and ignorant disputes, because you know that they breed quarrels. The Lord’s servant must not quarrel, but must be gentle to everyone, able to teach, and patient, instructing his opponents with gentleness. Perhaps God will grant them repentance leading them to the knowledge of the truth. Then they may come to their senses and escape the trap of the devil, who has taken them captive to do his will.” – 2 Timothy 2:21-26 (CSB)
“Be diligent to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who doesn’t need to be ashamed, correctly teaching the word of truth.” – 2 Timothy 2:15 CSB
Observation/Application:
The Lord knows those who are His. He knows our hearts and minds better than we do. God is calling us to be an approved worker. We must be diligent in our work for Him. We should maintain a zealous pursuit of God’s approval, making sure to handle scripture correctly. Today, we have false teachers around the world attacking men and women of God. They are teaching scripture incorrectly and most people wouldn’t know right from wrong.
God is calling us to be diligent in our walk with Christ and to know his word. Pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace. Righteousness is a relationship with God. Righteousness is received by believing that Jesus took your sins on the cross and gave you eternal life. Righteousness is faith. It is putting your trust in God and not the world. Righteousness is walking in love. Peace comes from pursuing Christ with a zealous heart. Satan wants us to focus on our past. He wants us to feel ashamed. That is why he uses people who do not follow Christ to attack us with debates.
When lost people try to attack your faith approach them in love and patience. Know the word of God and instruct them. Let the Holy Spirit speak through you. When we respond with love and not hate we are planting seeds that could lead lost and hurting people to Christ. Be diligent and watch what God Almighty can do.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank you for your word. Thank you for giving me peace and pursuing me when I tried walking away. Your love is unending, and I am so grateful for it. I will let the Holy Spirit lead me today. I will keep your word on my mind and when someone makes me mad or upset I will remember to respond with love, patience, and gentleness. Thank you, God, for your grace and mercy. In Jesus’ name! AMEN
