Patient Endurance

Maybe it’s just me, but doesn’t it seem like life is busier than ever?  And time just seems to go faster and faster and faster. And our responsibilities seems to get bigger and bigger and bigger. In the middle of all of the insanity, there is a place of perfect peace. It is also a place of perfect power, and joy, and hope, and love. And we can find this place, if we earnestly seek it.

Scripture: “This calls for patient endurance on the part of the people of God who keep his commands and remain faithful to Jesus.” – Rev.14:12

Observation/Application:
What is the key to finding this place of perfect peace? This verse tells us to have “patient endurance”. To me this is more about patience and mental toughness than it is about physical endurance. Although just as often it seems our bodies need charged up so that we can endure the storm that sometimes surrounds us.  Whether it is physical or mental, either way, life can get tough. We’ve all heard the saying, “Nothing good in life comes easy.” God gives us the way through these tough times by calling us to patient endurance.

Here are a few other verses that encourage us in a similar way:

  • “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” – (Gal. 6:9)
  • “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” – (2 Tim.4:7)
  • “Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.” – (Hebrews 12:1-3)

Life may have thrown us a few curve balls, given us a few cheap-shots a few times, knocked us to the ground a few times – but by the mighty name of Jesus we will rise. By the power of Jesus we will be strengthened, encouraged, emboldened, and refreshed such that we can remain faithful. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, so that we have exactly what we need to finish our race strong.

Prayer:
Dear heavenly Father, thank you for your great Word today. Thank you for such awesome pastors, family, and friends that you have brought into our lives. Thank you for all that you have done for us. We seek you first Lord, and want nothing more than to walk in your Holy Presence. Bless the work of my hands. Bless my family. Bless my friends. Bless every interaction that you bring before us Lord. Help us to live in that moment, and be obedient to your Will. Refresh us now Lord. Lift us up now. Fill us with patient endurance God, in Jesus mighty name. Amen.
