Not Sure What To Say, Or What To Do?

Psalm 145 is an amazing chapter in the Bible to turn to when you don’t know what to say to God. It is also amazing from the standpoint of helping us understand what we can expect when we seek Him first, and make Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. It is a great picture of God’s promise to those who love Him.

Scripture: “The Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth. He fulfills the desires of those who fear him; he hears their cry and saves them. The Lord watches over all who love him, but all the wicked he will destroy.” – Psalm 145:18-20

Observation/Application:
God is always near us – He is always right there with us. Not only when we are sitting in church. No He is with us always. When we are at work, when we are at the dinner table, when we are walking somewhere, when we are driving, when we are in our bedroom alone, in all places and in all circumstance, He is always right there.

  • He hears our cry – When we cry out to God, He hears us. God knows our hearts, so when we are hurt He knows it. And God wants nothing more than for you to come to Him during this time. He wants nothing more than to hold you in His arms, to comfort and protect you, and to shower you with His love and give you peace and rest.
  • He saves us – We can always count on God to come through for us. We obviously are the ones who have to take action and do something. We can’t just sit there and expect things to improve if we don’t do anything. Truly there are times when nothing is exactly what God wants us to do, at least for a season. But God is the one who will guide us and show us what to do, and He will save us.
  • He watches over us – God knows exactly what is going on in our lives. You know how we get surprised and blind-sided sometimes? Well God is not surprised by anything. He knows exactly what we need and is there ready to help those who seek Him.
  • We can always count on God – Unlike humans who tend to fail us. Even those we love ultimately fail us. We are all human. But it seems today that more and more a person’s word means less and less. That is why God’s Word is so good. God never fails us. Never. “The Lord is trustworthy in all He promises and faithful in all he does.”- Psalm 145:13. This is hard for some people to truly comprehend because people fail us so often. And when the ones that we love the most fail us, let us down, that is when we get rocked because we trust them the most. So it is hard to understand the concept of never being let down. But there is someone who we can look to and always trust. And His name is Jesus.

This is just a sample of the amazing things that can be found in Psalm 145. It’s only 3 verses. There are 18 other verses, 21 in total, that exist to fill us and bless us. When in doubt what to say to God, or when in doubt what to think, Psalm 145 is a great place to turn.

May your day be blessed.

Prayer:
Good morning God. It’s me again. I call on you first each morning. I call on you Lord in truth. Thank you for your amazing Word today. Fulfill the desires of my heart. Save me from that which is meant to harm me. Watch over me Lord. You know my heart. Pick me up when I fall. Lift me up when I bow down. I will praise you every day. Great is your name. Nothing is more worthy of praise. Your creation is more awesome and wonderful than anything that we can fathom, Lord. They reflect your awesome power and goodness. Fill us with more of you. Let your Spirit be alive in us, and flow through us Lord. We give you all the honor and glory, in Jesus mighty name. Amen.
