The Impact Of Our Daily Actions

Does what we do everyday as believers really have an impact? Does it really make a difference? I mean, we are not all mega-pastors, powerful government leaders, or famous people who reach millions each time they decide to speak. As believers in the Lord Jesus Christ, we can be confident that this answer is 100% without doubt “yes!” When our actions are aligned with the Will of God our Father, He can move mountains through our everyday acts of obedience.

Scripture: “Swarms of living creatures will live wherever the river flows. There will be large numbers of fish, because this water flows there and makes the salt water fresh; so where the river flows everything will live.” – Ezekiel 47:9

Observation/Application:
God is our source. Ezekiel chapter 47 describes water that is flowing from under the threshold of the temple. He is the beginning, the origin of it all. It is God who gives life. Through Christ all things are made new. Like a withering plant that gets rain, new life comes into the plant. It is strengthened, it lifts up its head, and starts to grow again, reaching for the sun. We too are uplifted as we reach for the Son, the Son of God.

Just like the river that gets wider and deeper the farther it goes downstream, our efforts as believers, while they may seem small, have tremendous downstream effects. Others will be blessed by our everyday acts of Godly obedience. People are refreshed, cleansed, washed clean, made new. Even if we can’t see the effects, just like when we throw a stone in the water, we know that ripples result. Sometimes we just cannot see far enough downstream. But our actions as believers create ripples that can travel huge distances, even across the globe, and into the future.

If we are having trouble in any area of our life, our mental or physical health, our relationships, our job, money, you name it, no matter what the problem is, we can find help in God who is our source of everything. When you trace everything upstream, we will always find the water coming from the spring, where the source is pure, clean, refreshing, healing, everything that is good and holy. Let the refreshing water that comes from God our Father and our Lord Jesus Christ wash us clean and give us love, light, and life.

Prayer:
Dear heavenly Father, thank you for your Word today. You are our source God. You are the origin, the beginning, creator of the heaven and the earth. You are all things that are good and pure and holy. Wash us clean with your Word Lord. Fill us with your Holy Spirit. Let your goodness overflow. Let your work be done in us Lord. Help us to be obedient to your Will, and have faith knowing that there are huge downstream impacts to our everyday acts of obedience to your Will. Help us to see the fruit of our labor. Reveal to us things that will build our faith Lord. We seek you first, and give you all the honor and glory, in Jesus mighty name. Amen.
