Does God Keep Us From Being Attacked?
Being a believer doesn’t mean that all of our problems go away, and that we are never get attacked or confused. It’s really important to understand this. Many new believers think that since God is all powerful, that nothing bad is ever going to happen. And when bad things happen they can’t understand how a God who is all-powerful can let bad things happen to them. This false expectation can cause us to turn away from God when they need Him the most!

Scripture:
“You disowned the Holy and Righteous One and asked that a murderer be released to you.” – Acts 3:14
Observation/Application:
When we think about all the bad things that we have to endure at some point in our life, it is worthwhile to think about the suffering of those who have come before us. Many of the disciples were heavily persecuted, beaten, jailed, and even put to death. Even Jesus himself was crucified and died on the cross by the very people He came to serve. He faced suffering and death and He is the Son of God. If God’s plan was for us not to endure hardship, then the people of God appearing throughout generations and generations in the Bible would not have seen any trouble. The whole foundation which is the Word of God would be totally different, and totally rewritten.
But thinking that becoming a Christian will keep us from hardship is a mindset that could not be further from the truth. In fact, the stronger our relationship becomes with our Lord Jesus Christ, the greater the enemy is threatened. For the enemy knows that he is powerless against those who are fully armed with the power of God which is the Holy Spirit. I wouldn’t even be surprised if the enemy increases his attacks against us as we draw closer to God, as a last ditch effort to keep us from that which will render him powerless.
So as we grow in our faith, let us be prepared for trouble. But let us be encouraged that if God is for us, that nothing can be against us. The enemy may try to be against us. But as we lean unto God and not unto our own understanding, we can be confident in knowing that we will be delivered from our trouble by the power of God who is always faithful. And as those who we love and serve turn against us, let us draw closer to the love of God our Father through prayer, fasting, and praise. And let us be confident knowing when trouble comes our way that the Lord will be victorious, as He always is.
Prayer:
Dear heavenly Father, thank you for this wonderful day. Encourage us as we face trouble Lord. Help us to be encouraged and to know that what the enemy intends for harm, you use for good. Let us seek you first, and draw you closer and closer each day. Help us to see past our current circumstances and know that you will deliver us from the attacks of the enemy. Give us courage and strength to face whatever it is we have to face Lord. Help us to know without a doubt that you will be victorious as we fully surrender to you. Help us to forgive those who turn against us Lord, for they know not what they do. Heal us from the wounds that they have inflicted Lord. Let us walk in Your Presence, filled with your goodness, and power, and grace. We give you all the honor and power and glory, in Jesus mighty name. Amen.
