Peace and Order vs. Confusion and Chaos

I found out recently that a friend and fellow co-worker of mine was going to be changing jobs at work. I knew that I was not going to be seeing him much anymore as this was going to require him to move to another town. I was very sad because he is such a great person, one who I deeply admire and respect. And during his remaining time at the office I found myself coming into work and sitting near where he sat. Whenever I saw him, I made my way over to him just to be around him and spend as much time as I could with him during his last few days at work.

Scripture:
“For God is not a God of confusion but of peace.” – 1 Corinthians 14:33

Observation/Application:
Our God is a God of peace and harmony. If something is a mess, when something is all jacked-up, that is not God. God wants peace, not confusion in our lives, and in everything that we do. And if things are not going well, that is not due to God. It is the enemy who comes to deceive, steal, kill, and destroy. When things are a mess, we can be certain that the enemy is afoot. All the more reason during these times that we should draw closer to God.

Just like that co-worker and friend who was only going be around a few more days, God wants us to draw close to Him. Just like that puppy that follows us around the house, just wanting to be close, God wants to be with us always. God is with us always, it is us who doesn’t acknowledge that He is there. And just like the person who we want be around, God wants to be with us. Just like that person who received the bad doctor report saying they have only so many weeks to live, and just like we would want nothing more than to be near them, God wants to spend each and every moment with us as if it were our last.

Welcome to God’s love for us. Our God is now a God of confusion, but of peace, harmony, and love. My prayer today is that you come to know this God, this love, and this peace, for there is nothing greater in this life.

Prayer:
Dear heavenly Father, thank you for your Word today. We know that you are a God of order, of love, and of peace. Keep us safe from the attacks of the enemy. Help us to recognize anything that is not God and pure and holy. Guide us and help us to restore order and clarity and peace when things get messed up in our lives, at home, at work, with our friends, with our health, with our finances, in all things. We know that you are always with us Father God, help us to draw close to you. Let us seek you and cherish every moment like it is our last moment with you. We thank you for all that you have blessed us with, and all that you have done and continue to do on our behalf. Your love is so amazing, and your grace is overwhelming. Guide us through today, and help us to walk in your Way, and in your presence, all throughout the day. We give you all the honor and glory in Jesus mighty name. Amen.
