You Are Important

One of the things that I am noticing more and more is how we as a society have become good at pointing out problems. All over the news and social media we see fussing and fighting and arguments about everything. But how many of us are actually working to solve the world’s problems? If all we ever do is point out problems, stir up trouble, but don’t do anything to help solve it, then we are just whiners. We are troublemakers, complainers, lazy, or self-consumed. This applies to our society, our homes, the workplace, our churches, our education system, and more. The amount of work to be done is endless. What the world needs is more workers, a little less talk, and a lot more action. What the world needs is you!

Scripture:
“Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.” – Matthew 9:37,38

Observation/Application:
Christ calls us to go and make disciples. Not knowing what to do is not an excuse. We have the Word of God that can help us, that can guide us, that will give us everything that we need to succeed. We don’t have to do all of the work alone. And we don’t have to be the experts with all of the answers. We can lean on God’s Word together, and let the Holy Spirit guide us.

Some people will make excuses like, “I didn’t go to school for that, I’m not formally trained, I don’t know what to do, and I’ve never done it before.” But never doing something and not knowing what to do is a learned excuse. Not knowing what to do does not excuse attempting to do it. At one point we didn’t know how to ride a bicycle. What did we do? We tried and tried until we figured it out. Same thing holds true to learning to walk. We fell and failed over and over until we got it. And now we walk every day.

What the world needs are more Christ-centered workers willing to go out there and do the work, to roll up their sleeves and get their hands dirty, to try, to fail, and then to try again. What God needs, and what Christ is asking for, is more obedience to his harvest. Like that great song by Mathew West, “It’s time for us to do something.”

You are a significant and important part of God’s creation. There is only one you, created for a specific God-given purpose. And what you do matters. Share a daily scripture post, invite someone to Bible study, hang scripture verses on your wall, pray for someone, volunteer once a month at the church. Take a chance. Try something new. We all play an important part, and every little bit counts!

Need ideas on what to do? Drop  me a comment. I’d be happy to brainstorm on ideas with you!

Prayer:
Dear heavenly Father, thank you for your Word today. Let your Holy spirit fall on us this morning, and the weight of your calling move our hearts to action. Help us to pray and seek you Lord. Guide us on any little thing that we can do during our day today to do your Will. Encourage us and embolden us to speak out in faith Lord. For if only everyone knew of your goodness Lord, that we could have heaven on earth. Lead us today not into temptation, and deflect the enemy far from us. Guide our every thought, our every word, our every deed. Let us seek you more, love you more, and draw closer to you. We give you all the honor and glory today and always, in Jesus mighty name. Amen.
