Personal Responsibility – Sin and the Fall

Adam hid from God and was ashamed because he knew that he had done wrong. To make matters worse, he blamed Eve for his disobedience. He even referred to her as “the woman” you (God) put here, as if he were blaming God in addition to blaming her.

Scripture:
“The man said, ‘The woman you put here with me – she gave me some fruit from the tree, and I ate it’.”  – Gen 3:12

Observation/Application:
How does this apply to me? Bottom line, it’s personal responsibility, not blaming others, and staying so close to God that we can withstand the trials, temptations, and deceit of the devil. In this life, we are going to be tempted by those around us to do things directly against the Will of God. When we seek God and put Him first, and are obedient to His Will and not ours, only then can we stand against the temptations of the world, sin, and the devil. Thank God for His Word and for sending His Son Jesus Christ to save us from sin and to show us the truth, the light, and the Way!

Prayer:
Dear heavenly father, help me to walk in your presence Lord, and be so close to you that I am able to turn away from the deceit of the devil. Help me to take a stand against evil, and for your glory. When I do wrong, and make a mistake, let me rise up and take responsibility without hiding or justifying my actions. Thank you for this revelation and for your Word. We give thanks to you and ask for this in the name of Jesus Christ, your one and only Son, our Lord. Amen.
