Only Love

Today’s scripture reminds us to focus on the basics. It’s all pretty simple really when you break it all down. Jesus was God’s one and only Son, sent from heaven above to give his life as a sacrifice for our sins so that we could have eternal life. All we need to do is ask God for forgiveness, accept Jesus into our hearts, make him our Lord and savior, and follow his ways. favoritism. He offers this for all people. He does not prefer gentiles over Jews, Catholics over Lutherans, one race over another, one sex over another, to God none of that matters. God looks at your heart.

Scripture:
“So if God gave them the same gift he gave us who believed in the Lord Jesus Christ, who was I to think that I could stand in God’s way?” – Acts 11:17

Observation/Application:
Jesus loved everyone. He did not show favoritism. And as Christians and followers of Jesus, while that might seem like a tall order sometimes, we do everything that we can to love others and live at peace with one another – (“as far as it depends on us” – Romans 12:18). We do this because we focus on Jesus and being more like him. Of all the commandments, Jesus said that the greatest was to love your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. And the second most important was to love thy neighbor as yourself. So the core message of the top two most important commandments is to love. And Jesus not only told us to love, he showed us his love by giving his very life for us that whoever shall believe in him shall have eternal life. (John 3:16)

We have to love one another friends. That is God’s core desire. There is no hate in love. There is no anger in love. There is no fear in love. There is no agenda in love, but love. God loves us in all our imperfections. And if that is what Jesus wants for us, if that is what God’s greatest desire is for us, who are we to stand in His way? Let us walk in love today.

Prayer:
Dear heavenly Father, than you for your Word. Help us to be more like You, and to be obedient to Your Will, and to not get in Your Way. Help us to love others the way that you love us. We love you Lord, and give You all honor and glory, in Jesus mighty name. Amen.
