Fruit Of The Spirit

Today’s scripture talks about the fruit of the Spirit. Good fruit grows from seeds that are planted in good soil, watered, and nurtured. And if we are to be full of the fruit of the Spirit, we should understand that the process takes time. It doesn’t magically appear out of thin air. It is a process that takes time and great care. When we are full of the Spirit of our Lord Jesus Christ, we are full of these good things just as fruit is full of seeds.

Scripture:
“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Against such things there is no law.” – Galatians 5:22-23

Observation/Application:
Fruit represents outward physical and observable behavior, but the qualities described are inward qualities. Our words and our actions are the fruit that come from our inner qualities, and what other people see in our walk as Christians. And the reality is that people judge Christianity by how we act as Christians. So when we make a mistake and fall to temptation and sin, it is important for us to own up to it and acknowledge that it was not a Christian behavior. Being a Christian does not mean that we are perfect, and that is exactly why we need Jesus Christ so badly. Only Christ lived a perfect life free from sin, and came that we too might be free from sin by his love and by his blood.

The second half of today’s scripture talks about about this freedom and how there is no law against the Spirit. In the Spirit of the Lord there is ultimate freedom. Let us never waste a good mistake for the glory of the Lord. Our testimonies can be a powerful witness to draw others to Christianity. It is a reflection of the freedom that can be found in Christ.

Prayer:
Dear heavenly Father, we come to you today with open hearts and open minds. Fill us with your Word, and with your goodness. Let your Holy Spirit flow in and through us Father God. Help us to be more like You. Fill us full of love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Let the fruit of the Spirit manifest in our lives Lord as we walk with you today, side by side, step by step, hour by hour, minute by minute. Let us be constantly in your Presence. We receive you this morning, and look forward to our day together. We give you all the honor and glory, in Jesus mighty name. Amen.
