Clothing Of The Immortals

When we get up in the morning, one of the first things we do after getting cleaned up is to get dressed. How do we decide what we put on? Well that depends on what we are going to do for the day. The clothes must match what we are going to do. What we wear depends on the expectation of what is going to happen. If we are going to work, and we are a construction worker, we put on our working clothes, if we are going to the office, we put on our business clothes or business casual. If we are going to church, to a funeral, or to a wedding, or out on a date, we get dressed up real nice. But why does what we wear matter? What we wear matters because it reflects what we expect to happen that day. We don’t want to get all dressed up real nice and then go to the construction site and get all dirty in our brand new sharp white button down shirt and expensive slacks.

Scripture:
“For the perishable must clothe itself with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality”. – 1 Corinthians 15:53

Observation/Application:
In the same way, we must be careful what we wear on our Spiritual bodies. How we act, who we are, and what we believe are the clothes that we wear on the inside, on our Spirit body. See we have more than one bodies. We have a flesh body, which we can see. But we also have a Spirit body that God can see. And our Spirit body is what lives inside of us. And in the same way that our earthly bodies are clothed to reflect where we are going for the day, the clothes of the Spirit reflect where we are going for eternity. How we act, who we are, what we believe, those are our clothes of the Spirit. And if we want to spend the day with Christ, we should clothes ourselves to be with Christ.

How do we clothe ourselves in Christ? It’s pretty simple actually. We follow Christ. In following Christ, we act like Christ. He is our Leader. He is our compass. He is our guiding light. We follow Him. We put our hope in Him, not in our government or in Marvel superheroes. We clothe ourselves in a real hero who died for me and for you, and who rose from the dead so that our sins could be forgiven, and so that we could be with Him for eternity. That means that our Spiritual bodies are immortal. Unlike the Marvel superheroes which are not even real, Jesus Christ walked truly walked on the earth, and by the power of the Holy Spirit rose from the grave and lives eternal!

Jesus is my hero. That is my leader, and who is worthy to be followed. And by choosing Jesus, we choose that our spiritual bodies will live in heaven eternally, as one of the immortals. I’m going to follow Christ all the way, and the only way, to heaven. As we get ready to take on the day today and each day, let us clothe ourselves in Christ as we prepare to walk with Him today.

Prayer:
Dear heavenly Father, good morning it’s me again. I come to you with an open heart and an open mind. Fill me with your goodness, with all things that are of You. Wash away my sins, and make me new. We receive you into our hearts and minds, and get ready to face the day. Help us to walk in Your Presence, and be filled with your Holy Spirit. We thank you for your Word, and give you all the honor and glory and praise, in Jesus mighty name. Amen.
