Power And Freedom In The Spirit of God

I had a challenging day the other day and my mind was not at peace when I laid down to sleep. I felt like I was losing the battle of the mind. I think we all have these days. I never thought I would be able to fall asleep but when I started to pray I instantly fell asleep. And when I woke up the next day, I woke up to sound of thunder and heavy rainfall. The sky opened up and downpour came. It wasn’t a small and timid rain, it was like a complete drenching, loud and powerful. And when the rain stopped, the air was fresh and my car and driveway has never been cleaner.

Scripture:
“For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.” 2 Timothy 1:7

Observation/Application:
Just like sheets of rain falling from the sky and washing everything clean, God can wash us clean. Sometimes the storms are heavy, like the other night, because we need a heavy washing. None of us are immune to getting stained by sin and the filth it as we go through our day. There is sin and temptation everywhere. The battle wages every day.

But the Word of God washes us clean every day, and makes everything new. When we saturate in his Word, we are refreshed, encouraged, energized, renewed by his Spirit that washes us clean. Being refreshed, we should be reminded that the Spirit of God lives in us. And by His Spirit we have power, love, strength, courage, and self-discipline. We can rise above our circumstances.

We are not timid. Rather we are bold. We are alive. We are courageous. We are strong. These are all characteristics of God. We shall not walk in fear, but in faith, toward the life and freedom that God intended for us. Let us embrace each and every day. For this is the day the Lord has made. Let us rejoice and be glad in it.

Today only comes once, so make today a great day! I call you blessed.

Prayer:
Dear heavenly Father, thank you for your Word today. Wash us clean, refresh us, encourage us, remove fear, doubt, or any worry. We know that you have us in the palm of your hand, right where you want us to be at this very moment. Let us hear your voice and direct our every step. Lift us up that we might walk in your Holy Presence. Fill us with love, power, self-discipline, courage, strength, peace, health, and with all good things that come through you. Deliver us from the hand of the enemy. Help us to forgive others as you have forgiven us. We declare your blessings in our lives, as we walk in obedience with you, in Jesus mighty name. Amen.
