Been There Done That Got The Teeshirt

When we have been through trials and tribulation, we can connect and empathize more with the pain or struggles someone might be going through. In the same way, Jesus became fully human so that he would know suffering in the flesh, so that he could know temptation first-hand, and so that he could help those who are suffering and being tempted. Jesus is our advocate in heaven. He gets it. He has been there. He and his body were broken. That is how when we mess up, he can be merciful. He understands what it is like to be human.

Scripture:
“The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven.” – Hebrews 1:3

Observation/Application:
How incredible is to know that Jesus understands us completely? He knows our every strength, our every weakness, our every thought, our every deed, our every pain, everything. He knows when we are being stretched, tempted, and broken. That’s why Jesus laid down his life for you and I, so that every struggle could be laid before the cross and he could be our advocate in heaven.

Now if you wonder why God would care about little old me, or you? Well because God created every single one of us for a unique and special purpose. And He loves each and every one of his children. Every person matters. And while the devil brings pain and sin and darkness, Jesus brings light and life and goodness. Everything that is good comes from God. And it is by the blood of Jesus that we can be saved. His blood washes us clean.

We can always count on God. He said that he would never leave us. And since God is perfect and his Word is true, you can count it as money in the bank. That check is signed, sealed, and delivered. The price for our lives and eternity was paid when Jesus was nailed to the cross. By the love of the Father, by the blood of his Son, and through the power of the Holy Spirit we are made new.

So next time you feel hurt, overburdened, beat down, or broken, whatever your struggle is, let us turn to Jesus who can help us. Let us remember that Jesus has been through it all. He has been through every trial and test, and defeated the devil himself. He understands us and what we are going through better than we understand ourselves.

And if he can handle death and the devil himself, and He created the heaven and the earth and everything in it, certainly he can handle whatever that we are going through.
