You Can’t Win Them All

We can’t win every time. Even the best don’t always come in first. And God doesn’t answer our prayers the way that we want him to. The fact is, God is in control. And sometimes the best that we can do is the best that we can do. The rest we need to leave to God.

Scripture: “even if these three men – Noah, Daniel, and Job – were in it, they could only save themselves by their righteousness, declares the Sovereign Lord.” – Rev.14:14

Observation/Application
Noah, Daniel, and Job are some of the most well-known righteous men of their time. Each one of them went through a severe test and yet made it through their challenges. And because of what they had experienced, these men have some of the greatest life stories and testimonies ever documented. And while they were not able to save everyone along the way, this was not for lack of trying. They did all that their flesh could bare, and from there they had to trust God.

Like these men, we too can walk through the fire and not only survive, but be greatly blessed. Like them, God can turn our test into our testimony. To do this, we have to learn to trust God. And when we learn to confidently put our trust in God, we can live in peace knowing that we have done all that we can do. Easy to say, sometimes harder to do. Do we trust God, or do we tend to worry, stress, fuss, or fight?

Noah, Daniel, and Job couldn’t save everyone. They tried, and failed. And during their lives, they suffered a lot of personal hardship losing family, friends, health – the list goes on. And their troubles tend to make our troubles seem so small. Like them, we may not win every battle and save everyone along the way. But we can learn to put our trust in God knowing that He is ultimately in control. We can stand knowing that God is always faithful, even when we think our prayers are not working. When we don’t get the result that we want from prayer, we can be confident that God has a better plan. We can stand firm knowing that His Ways are greater than our ways. We can have faith knowing that God has something different and better in store for us.

Prayer:
Dear heavenly Father, thank you for your Word today. We know that we don’t understand everything that you tell us Lord, but let us be open to your Word. We know that sometimes we aren’t going to get the answer that we want, or the result that we want. Help us to understand your Will may not be our Will, and help us to trust in You! Help us to recognize the battle that we cannot win because you don’t even want us in the fight. Help us to know when and where you want us Lord. Help our efforts to be fruitful and aligned with the purpose that You have for us. Guide us today as we go through our day. Help us to know that you are always near. We thank you for all that you are doing, all that you have done, and all that you are about to do, in Jesus mighty name. Amen.
