Anchored
Many people understand that a solid core is an important anchor to our physical health. And just as our bodies grow and mature, so can our spirit. We just need to feed it properly as we would our bodies. Each time we read the Word of God, it feeds our Spirit just like a good meal would feed our bodies. And as we feed ourselves the Word of God, surrender to Him and are obedient to His Will, that is when we are on the path of growth and maturity and health.

Scripture:
“Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of people in their deceitful scheming. Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ.” – Ephesians 4:14-15
Observation/Application:
If we smoke and drink and eat all kinds of junk food, our bodies will deteriorate. We can become overweight, and have heart conditions, high blood pressure, high-cholesterol, cancer, and all kinds of other life-threatening illnesses. And many people understand this because often we can feel the effect of these habits. Similarly, if we feed our Spirit all kinds of junk food, and beliefs and habits that are contrary to our Spiritual health like pornography, deceitfulness, hatred, and all kinds of other vices that are contrary to God’s Word, our Spirit becomes corrupted and suffers just like our bodies do. And our lives suffer too. We may not see it when we look in the mirror like we would our bodies, but the impact on our lives is very real.
Our Spiritual obedience directly effects every aspect of our lives, from our relationships, to our careers, to our family lives, to the amount of peace and hope and joy and love that we experience throughout the day. So let us read God’s Word, and feed our Spirit with good food, the Word of God, that will help us to grow and become strong in the Lord. Let us be anchored in the Word of God so that we will not be tossed back and forth by the waves of this world, and by the teachings and by the cunning and craftiness of people in their deceitful scheming. Let us speak the truth to our neighbor in love, with boldness and confidence, no matter the cost. There is only one God to which we are all accountable. And to whom much has been given, more will be required. Let us seek the truth, and speak the truth, by the power and grace of Jesus Christ our Lord.
Prayer:
Dear heavenly Father, thank you for your Word today. We seek you first, and honor you first. Fill us with your wisdom and understanding Lord, and give us the courage to speak boldly the truth to our neighbor. Let us walk in love, as did Christ Jesus, as we grow and mature in our Spirit. Let your Word fill us up, wash us clean, and heal us from the inside out Lord. Strengthen and encourage us Lord. Help our unbelief. Give us the Words, and the peace, when we are placed on the spot and asked about our faith Lord. Guide those who are in a leadership position in faith to speak the truth in love, as we pray for ourselves. We give you all the honor and glory, in Jesus name. Amen.
