Refuge – The Key To Success!

Refuge is defined as, “a condition of being safe or sheltered from pursuit, danger, or trouble.” As children our parents shelter us from danger. As a parent I do my best to do this for my children. It is such a blessing to watch a child grow and blossom in a good environment. While my kids have their challenging moments, for the most part they are full of joy and peace. I notice things like them dancing around the house, singing in the shower, being excited to share what happened in their day, and even simple acts of kindness like tipping the person playing music at a restaurant. What an amazing thing joy is. How precious of a gift!

Scripture:
“But let all who take refuge in you be glad; let them ever sing for joy. Spread your protection over them, that those who love your name may rejoice in you.” – Psalm 5:11

Observation/Application:
Kids seem to have this figured out more than adults do. They seem to run around without really a care in the world. Their largest concerns are doing their chores, and social and competitive pressures playing games with friends. And as adults, we can become burdened with different concerns and social pressures too, like our jobs, putting food on the table and paying our bills, and family pressures. It can be easy to let these adult concerns steal our joy, and we stop enjoying life like we used to as children. We stop dancing around the house, singing in the shower, and truly enjoying life. How do we get that joy back like we had as children?

Today’s scripture reminds us that when we take refuge in the Lord, we are filled with joy and gladness, so much so that we sing. Are we singing because we like to hear our voice, and because we like the result of attention that we get from friends and family who compliment us when we sing? Or do we sing because we overflow with joy and gladness. Do we sing because there is so much peace and love and joy in us that it just overflows and we cannot contain it?

There is a way to get your joy back. and it is not a complex formula performed by the latest scientific or medical research. It is a time-tested and proven method that has been around since the beginning of time. And I’m about to tell you the key, the formula, the secret. If people would understand the value of the information that I’m about to reveal that is the key to transforming their lives and unlocking their potential in every area, the key to complete joy and happiness, peace and love, and abundance in all areas, they would pay huge sums of money for this information. Unfortunately information is discounted when people don’t have to pay for it and it is free. So don’t discount it just because it is free.

The secret, the key, the formula for unlocking peace, joy, and abundance in every area of your life is to take refuge in the Lord. Set yourself up as a child in his house. We are all children of God, surrounded by a home that is the world and everything in it. And everything that exists, all belongs to our Father in heaven. He rules over the heaven and the earth and everything in it. We too can be like the child that is so filled with joy that we sing in the shower, dance around the house, and who overflows with love in our thoughts, words, and actions all throughout the day.

That’s it? Is that really all there is to do? Is it really that simple? The answer is yes to all three of these questions. Don’t overcomplicate it. Don’t discount it because it is free. It has worked for me, and millions and millions of people since the beginning of time. If you don’t have enough joy, peace, hope, love, finances, health, whatever you feel that you are lacking, it can be found in the Lord. Seek God first, and everything else that you seek will follow.

Prayer:
Dear heavenly Father, thank you for your wonderful Word today. We are in awe of your wisdom and truth Lord. Fill us with your wisdom, and nourish our desire for You. Reveal to us the truth and simplicity of your beautiful creation. Help us to seek refuge in you Lord, and be filled with joy and praise. We know that everything belongs to you. Bless us in thy house. We give you all the honor and glory and praise, and receive your Word as truth, in Jesus mighty name. Amen.
