Letting Our Best Shine

Too many times in life we get stressed, anxious, confused, and the world seems to get the best of us. It feels like we are carrying the weight of the world on our shoulders. And during these times our best doesn’t always shine through. But that is not how we were meant to live. We were not meant to be in this alone.

Scripture
“So he said to me, “This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel: ‘Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,’ says the Lord Almighty.” – Zechariah 4:6

Observation/Application
In Jerusalem they are getting to rebuild the temple. It is going to be a wonderful structure, requiring years of hard work and diligence. It is a huge task that has taken a long time, stalled on more than one occasion, and that many people during that time either doubted or even cared about. But God removes all doubt and reminds them through this Word that the temple can and will be completed with God’s help. They don’t have to rely on their own strength to accomplish what they may doubt.

Just like the people of Jerusalem in those days, we also don’t have to rely on our own strength to face the things that we have to face in this life. Do we have a big project that we are getting ready to tackle and a little nervous that we can handle it? Is there an obstacle that we are facing that we are not sure that we are going to be able to remove or get around? Is there something so heavy going on that we don’t think that you can bear the weight of it?

The good news is that no matter what we are facing, no matter what we are going through, we all have access to the ultimate helper, the ultimate power source, who can get us through anything that life throws our way. His name is Jesus, the Son of God, who was sent to be the fullness of God on earth. He is the truth, the light, and the way. He is our ultimate helper, our ultimate source of power that is available to each and every one of us.

And when Jesus ascended into heaven he left us with the Holy Spirit, Christ revealed in us, so that we could live with the same strength and power that lived in Him. That is who we are and how we were created. Let us never forget that God created us in His image. That means were meant to be victorious, powerful, bold, wise, loving, merciful, and good in every way. We too were meant to live in the fullness of His love and power.

So whether we are getting ready to tackle a large project, going through a huge life change, or just trying to make it through the day, let us never forget that there is one way, one plan, one person we can turn to who is guaranteed to help us through. His name us Jesus, the Lord almighty, the source of all power. And in Him, our best can shine!

Prayer:
Dear heavenly Father, thank you for your Word today. Thank you for revealing to us your good and powerful nature. Let us lean on you Lord, and know that you are our ultimate source of power, and our help in all things. Help us to know that we can do all things through Christ who is our strength. Let us lean not unto our own understanding, but unto you Lord. Fill us with your love and mercy, wisdom and strength, and all things that are good that come from you. Guide our every step, our every word, our every thought. Energize us and launch us into today Lord, that we put our best foot forward today Lord. Let our best shine through, knowing that our best is You. We give you all the honor and glory, in Jesus mighty name. Amen.
