Are Prayers Effective?

Sometimes when we pray it appears they do not get answered. Perhaps God does answer our prayers but the answer is not what we want to hear. Perhaps the answer is not giving the outcome that we are wanting. So what should we believe? Are prayers effective?

Scripture:
“And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up. If they have sinned, they will be forgiven. Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.” – James 5:15,16

Observation/Application:
Today’s scripture is very clear, prayers are both powerful and effective. The only caveat is that those are prayers that are (1) offered in faith, and (2) by a righteous person. Further, we are to pray for each other. There are many similar scriptures found in the Word of God that talk about the effectiveness of prayer in faith. The Bible also says that where two or more are gathered in my name, God is there. God is there, even though we might not see Him, and He does answer prayer.

Our job is to pray in faith, and not let our eyes deceive us or our human understanding limit God. The fact remains that the Holy Spirit lives in us, the same power that rose Jesus from the rave. And if God wants to do it, He can do it. Our job is to believe, and walk an upright and just life, doing our best to walk with Jesus in full surrender to the Lord our God, and to love Him with all of our heart, all of our mind, all of our soul, an all of our strength. Let us pray in faith today!

Prayer:
Dear heavenly Father, thank you for your Word today. Release in us a new level of faith Lord. Let not our understanding or our flesh limit your greatness that lives in each of us. Help us to get out of our own way Lord. Let your goodness wash us clean from the inside out Lord, and make us new. Let your Holy Spirit overflow in us Lord. Let your holy fire consume us. Help us to seek you first each and every day, and guide our every thought, word, and deed. We give you all the honor and glory and praise, in Jesus mighty name. Amen.
