A New Year, A New You – Science Meets Creation

God created. Many people have a difficult time knowing what to believe on the creation of the world and some of the old testament scriptures that seem to be in contrast to what the world teaches, especially in geology, evolution theory, etc. The main difference is that God’s Word has not changed. It remains the same all through the year’s. And as science continues to learn and mature it’s understanding, it is actually proving the Bible to be true.

Scripture:
“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.” – Gen 1:1

Observation/Application:
Today’s scripture is one that tends to challenge Christians and non-Christians alike. But the fact remains that none of us were here at the creation of the world. So everything we believe has to come from somewhere. We can choose to believe theories on the subject, developed by man. But if there is one thing that history teaches us, it is that man’s theories are limited, flawed, and continually changing and evolving. But God’s Word is constant and unchanging.  And the more that man learns, the more that we continue to realize that the Word of God is truth.

When it comes to understanding the book of Genesis and the truth about creation, there are some wonderful apologetic references available. I had many questions, mainly around the time-frame and sequenced of events. For example, how could the “Spirit hover above the water” if the water was not yet formed? The apologetic references helped me understand that this clearly happened after God initially created (all elements of periodic table and unknowns including rock, dirt, water, etc.).

Another question that I have always struggled with is the topic of dinosaurs. An easy to read reference on this topic for adults and children alike is “Dinosaur’s of Eden”, by Ken Ham. The Ken Ham book introduced me to the possibility and scientific evidence that supports that man walked with “dinosaurs”. Further, most people don’t know that the term dinosaur was a term coined in the 1800’s upon a dino-bone find. But these large creatures are referred to in the Bible as dragons, Behemoth (Job) and other names.  The Indians had drawings on the cave walls of the brontosaurus for example.

There is also much evidence that supports that the Bible is actual time-frame and that these dinosaurs are not millions of years old as evolution suggests. For example, a T-Rex found in Nevada still had flesh and blood cells that certainly would not have lasted millions of years. (See https://answersingenesis.org/fossils/dinosaur-tissue/“). Further, the notion that fossils take millions of years to produce is flawed since it has been proven that fossils can emerge much more quickly. For example, a ham, sausages, and a bag of flour was found fossilized from a volcanic eruption in 1885, a recent event. After the great flood, it is estimated that there was likely a lot of mud and volcanic eruptions, etc., that could have easily caused the ice age and extinction of many animals. For a more in depth look at this topic, visit Answers in Genesis here: https://answersingenesis.org/fossils/fossil-record/

Many people don’t believe what the Bible says because there don’t take the time to actually research things for themselves. It is just too easy to believe and go along with what everyone else is saying. But as we dive into the new year, I challenge you to know what you believe, and have reason for it. Don’t just take what the world has to say and spit it back out as true. There is one truth, and it is the Word of God. Isn’t it about time that you wrestled with those questions deep in your soul? Isn’t it about time that you knew in your own mind what you believed, and why?

If you want to know the truth, and not just believe what others say, then I invite you to read the bible for yourself. Only then will you be able to say for yourself, and know in your own mind, what is worthy and true. You can’t discount the bible as truth if you have not taken the time to read it from cover to cover. And like any subject, you have to come with an open mind that it is true and that you actually have something to learn.

The entire Bible can be read easily in 1 year in just 15 minutes per day. If you are interested in discovering the truth for yourself, then message me and I will send you the same Bible reading plan that I follow each year. Many others follow the same reading plan so if you have questions just submit them to the site or directly to me and your questions will be answered. You are not alone in this journey. We will walk you through it one day at a time. If you have any interest, today is the day to begin reading. Today we are reading Genesis chapters 1 and 2, and Luke chapter 1.

Wishing you a prosperous new year, a new level of wisdom, peace, and fulfillment in your lives!

Prayer:
Dear heavenly father, thank you for revealing so much through your Word. Encourage those who have any hesitation or fear to take a step toward you Lord. Help them to take the step to reading your Word and understanding what the Bible says Lord. Help me to stay in your holy presence, and fill me with your goodness, that I might walk in righteousness and be holy and blameless. I long to be one with you Lord, and walk in you perfect will. Let your breath fill our lungs and give us life, and life more abundantly than we could ever imagine. Let your power, wisdom, joy, and peace reside in me, and help me to serve you Lord without fear all of my days.  I ask that you bless my family and all those who are sick Lord, and who are in need of your mercy and comfort. I ask this in the name of your one and only Son, Jesus Christ. Amen.
